General
Royal Brunei Airlines (Royal Brunei) is a small nationalized flag carrier in the Sultanate of Brunei.
At the moment, Royal Brunei uses ten aircraft, some of which are on lease. There is an order for five Boeing 787s, but they will be on lease too. These aircraft will enable the airline to offer more international long-haul flights. At one stage the airline was using Boeing 767s, and the delivery of the first Boeing 767 involved a world-record non-stop flight of more than 17 hours on its way to Brunei (it stopped over in Kenya after flying for all that time from Seattle).
Royal Brunei only provides two cabin classes:
- Business class
- Economy class
There is therefore no first-class seating. This is not surprising because the airline has such a small fleet for an international airline and maintaining a dedicated first class section on its planes is probably not financially sustainable. Three of Royal Brunei’s Boeing 767s have the pod-styler SkyDreamer seats in their Business class sections.
Entertainment on the flights is not as lavish as on larger airlines, but includes TV, radio and games. Royal Brunei is based in an Islamic country and no alcohol is served on its flights. Female flight attendants wear traditional head-dress which allows only their faces to be seen.
Royal Brunei Airlines is a small-scale operator in the Asian aviation industry but if you are interested in flying in that part of the world, feel free to contact us so that we can make the necessary enquiries and arrangements for you.
