General
Finnair is the largest airline in Finland and is also the national flag carrier there. In terms of shareholder stakes, Finnair is technically a nationalised airline because the Finnish government holds a majority 57% stake in the airline. At present the airline is expanding into Europe by using newly acquired Embraer aircraft. Besides its Oneworld partners, Finnair also has code-share agreements with 10 other airlines, servicing such destinations as Iceland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Russia and the Ukraine.
Finnair offers two cabin classes – economy and business. The level and nature of the catering varies according to the duration of the flight and the cabin class. All Finnair planes except for the Embraer aircraft have in-electronic flight entertainment devices such as TV and games. The frequent flyer program is known as “Finnair Plus” and it has four membership levels, as well as a level for minor children.
Finnair does not provide any flights in South Africa but if you are planning on travelling in northern Europe it may be worth your while to contact us so that we can give you a quotation on possible flights and ticket prices.
