Ever since flights and air travel became commonplace, people have been exploring new travel destinations with great interest. The information on each destination covered here is as up to date as possible – send through a message if there is anything to be corrected or added.
Modern air travel allows people to move around the planet within a matter of hours, and also in unprecedented numbers. In bygone centuries, inter-continental travel by sea sometimes took several months and the ships could only transport a few hundred people at a time. Modern long-haul international airliner aircraft are able to hold more than 500 people and make the same journey in about twelve hours.
Air transport is therefore suited to the modern internationalized economy and lifestyle, and provides many people with access to all of the inhabited continents on earth. A visit to another continent is no longer a journey of months or years but can take place within one weekend.
